Poison Spider Mesa Trail is an off-highway vehicle route on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, just outside Moab, Utah. The trail is known for challenging obstacles, including large ledges and tight, technical spots that call for modified, high-clearance vehicles. Riders and drivers also find a mix of rock climbing terrain, arches, and stretches of fast-paced dune riding along the way, with the kind of cliffside views that make people stop and take a photo before pushing on.
The trailhead is reached by driving west on Potash Road, UT-279, from Moab and turning right near the Dinosaur Tracks sign. The route carries a technical rating of 6, so it tends to draw experienced drivers with the right equipment rather than casual sightseers. It is open year round, weather permitting, and spring and fall are generally considered the most comfortable seasons to tackle it, with milder temperatures and firmer ground.
Anyone planning a trip should come prepared for rugged terrain and check current conditions before heading out. For more information, call 435-259-2100.
