Payson City Golden Onion Days
Basic Information
Payson City Golden Onion Days is a Labor Day weekend tradition dating back to 1929, when it began as the Onion Harvest and Homecoming, a chance for residents and former residents to reconnect while celebrating Payson’s history as a major onion producing community. Over the years the celebration grew into the event now known as Golden Onion Days, held each year in Payson.

The celebration fills the city with concerts, a carnival, a baby contest, a car show, 5K and 10K races, a parade, fireworks, food, and merchandise vendors. The festivities have included the Payson City Treasure Adventure, an annual hunt tied to Onion Days where participants follow the Crew of the Red Baron in search of a hidden treasure and a chance at the grand prize.
The family friendly puzzle portion begins on the Friday of Golden Onion Days, with the main treasure hunt starting Saturday after the Children’s Parade at the Bandstand in Memorial Park. Join the celebration at 300 S Main St in Payson.
