Raspberry Days at Bear Lake
By McKenzie Otteson feature writer for My Local Utah
As August approaches, one of Utah’s most anticipated events is right around the corner. Raspberry Days is an annual event that celebrates the harvest and abundance of raspberries at Bear Lake. And who doesn’t love a tradition celebrating all things raspberry? This year, Raspberry Days runs from Thursday, August 4th through Saturday, August 6th.
The weekend events start off with a parade. People flood the streets to collect candy and beads—and watch marching bands, floats, antique cars, and more. Following the parade is a craft fair in Heritage Park. Local vendors and businesses come together to sell handmade, handcrafted items alongside food, rides, and live music. And yes, the famous raspberry shake will be available throughout the entirety of Raspberry Days as well as many other sweet raspberry treats.
Many more events are planned throughout the weekend to ensure you never run out of activities to do. Additional weekend plans include a rodeo, pie eating contest, games, a fun run, and a golf scramble. When nighttime rolls around, the boat parade is a spectacle to see. Boats travel between the Marina and Ideal Beach—showing off their pretty lights and designs atop the reflective lake. A firework show is a perfect way to close the weekend celebration.
