Desert nature reserve and visitor center
Red Cliffs Desert Reserve offers a window into Southern Utah’s desert ecosystem, with easy nature trails and a landscape shaped by red rock and native wildlife. The reserve’s administration and visitor center are housed at 111 E. Tabernacle St. in St. George, a cooperative effort between the Washington County HCP and the Greater Zion Convention and Tourism Office. Visitors can stop by Monday through Friday to talk with staff about desert wildlife, local trail conditions, and other Washington County outdoor activities.
The reserve connects to trails throughout the region, including a stretch that passes through on the way to Toquerville Falls, making it a natural stop for hikers exploring the wider network of Southern Utah trails. Whether you are new to the area or a longtime local, the visitor center staff can help point you toward trails suited to your pace and interests, along with tips on what wildlife you might spot along the way.
Completed applications and forms related to the reserve can be submitted by email or mail directly to the administration office. For questions about trails, wildlife, or county activities, call the visitor center at (435) 301-7430 or stop by the office on Tabernacle Street in St. George.
