Fun Things to Do This St. Patrick’s Day

March definitely came in like a lion.  Roaring its flurries all over the Wasatch front with record-breaking snowfall and extending our skiing season till May. But will there be a rainbow at the end of all these storms? Well, put on your snowboots and get ready to go leprechaun hunting because St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner!

 

Wondering what to do for St. Patricks Day?  Lucky for you we have compiled a list of food, drinks, music, and culture to get your Irish fix.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Always wanted to see a leprechaun? Well you just might at Salt Lake City’s own St. Patrick’s Day parade.  Organized by the Hibernian Society of Utah, the parade starts at 11:00 am pm Saturday, March 11, and winds its way through The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake. Following the parade, the Siamsa Celtic Celebration takes place in the Olympic plaza AND 25,000 sq ft of indoor space directly behind the stage where you will find traditional Irish food, a secondary performance area, and the John Welsh Bar.

 

Flanagan’s

This popular Park City pub offers some great food, including some Irish favorites like shepherd’s pie, bangers n’ mash, and traditional corned beef & cabbage. At least drop by Flanagan’s and share an Irish coffee or a Guinness with some friends.

 

Celtic Celebration at Peery’s Egyptian Theater

If you are looking for some culture for St. Patrick’s Day, then you should check out the Celtic celebration at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden.  If you love St. Patrick’s Day, you don’t want to miss this event.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Yoga & Beer at the Gateway

Free yoga and $5 beers are getting you ready for St. Patrick’s Day.  Classes are held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at The Gateway at 16 N Rio Grande St. Street level, right behind The Plaza stage.

 

Squatter’s

For more than two decades, Squatter’s is a Salt Lake City mainstay. This brewpub is known for its craft beers and friendly staff. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with some good food and a pint of whatever makes you feel Irish.

Piper Down

Another pub in Salt Lake City, the Piper Down on State Street in Salt Lake City is very fitting for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration. This Olde World public house offers some great pub food and really likes to celebrate this traditional Irish holiday. Festivities kick off with the annual “St. Practice Day” party the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day.

 

Get Your Green On

Hosted by the Monarch Market in Ogden, the Get Your Green On event offers a beer garden, snacks, and several food vendors.  The event is held the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day and features live entertainment too.

 

Roosters Brewing Co.

Great food and beer, are the essentials of St. Patrick’s Day.  With three locations Roosters Brewing Co. offers a foodie’s menu and plenty of beer on tap.  Don’t forget to wear something green.

Lucky Laces 5K & Health Fair

This free event is held on March 11 at The Orchard at University Place in Orem.  The Luck Laces 5K & Health Fair starts at 9:00 am with a walking 5K, followed by breakfast and a health fair. Due to weather the Check in/Health Fair/Start Line has been shifted from The Orchard to indoors. Come and enjoy a fun and healthy way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Get your Irish on for this family-friendly event.  The Heber Valley Railroad runs this fun rail experience on St. Patrick’s Day. Live entertaining, singing, and games for the whole family.

Corned Beef Cooking Class

Learn how to make this traditional Irish meal from the Park City Culinary Institute this March 17. The menu you will be cooking includes Corned Beef, Colcannon, Watercress Soup, and Soda Bread Biscuits. Beer will be served to guests 21 and over. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided.
